Whether you are a casual biker or an expert, you’ll find many interesting choices. WomanTours offers bicycle tours throughout the US and they offer some international and coast-to-coast US tours as well. The cross-country tours have especially designed for women over 50, though all ages are welcome. Each trip includes a “sag wagon” so you don’t have to worry about keeping up. The tours also designate recommended skill levels, so you won’t be out of place. Beginner tours feature a leisurely pace over relatively flat terrain, moderate level is a relaxed pace over rolling and some hilly terrain, and advanced trips cover more miles each day, faster pace, and some hilly terrain.
Most of the tour participants come alone, so you don’t have to sign up with a friend. And don’t worry that you’ll be too old or too young for the group; past trips have included women as young as 18 and as old as 79. The average age of the guests is 54 on their shorter tours and 59 on the cross-country tours.
The trips allow adequate time for sight-seeing and the lodging is chosen with the idea of being afordable while at the same time, comfortable and interesting.
